UAE may join project to build central highway around Moscow - minister

ABU DHABI, February 22. /TASS/. The United Arab Emirates may join the project to build the Central Circular Automobile Road around Moscow (CKAD), Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said on Sunday. "Talks are underway on the participation of the United Arab Emirates in the construction of the Central Circular Automobile Road," the minister said at the IDEX-2015 International Defense Exhibition in Abu Dhabi. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said earlier the Russian government had plans to delay the implementation of some major infrastructure projects, including CKAD. Russian Industry and Trade Minister Manturov also said on Sunday Russia counted on active investments from the United Arab Emirates into its economy and considered establishing joint ventures, including in the aviation industry. "The main emphasis will be made not only on the supply of finished products. We consider creating joint ventures. We count on cooperation in the aviation sphere," the minister said at the IDEX-2015 defense exhibition in Abu Dhabi. The potential of Russian-UAE cooperation is "underused," the minister said, adding both countries were actively using the instrument of the inter-governmental commission and discussing various projects. Russia has invited colleagues from the UAE to attend the Russia Arms Expo 2015 in Nizhny Tagil in the autumn of this year, the minister said. Russia’s Industry and Trade Minister Manturov is heading the Russian delegation at the IDEX-2015 arms exhibition in Abu Dhabi. The Russian exposition at the IDEX-2015 exhibition was organized by state-run hi-tech corporation Rostec. Russian defense companies that are part of Rostec have brought over 700 exhibits to the Abu Dhabi defense show, including a full-scale specimen of the Khrizantema self-propelled anti-tank system and the export version of the Ratnik "future soldier" individual combat gear, which will be featured for the first time at the IDEX-2015 defense exhibition.
