UK-based Tesco Group to expand investment in Thailand

BANGKOK, November 23 (TNA) - UK-based Tesco Group, the owner of wellknown Tesco Lotus hypermarket in Thailand, has vowed to keep expanding its investment in the Thai Kingdom, where sound business potential has been envisaged. Lotus Group's Chief Executive Office (CEO) Dave Lewis stressed on his business conglomerate's position on Wednesday while meeting Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who oversees economic affairs, in Bangkok to discuss Tesco Group's continual investment plans in the Thai economy. On the occasion, the Tesco Group's CEO also expressed his Tesco Group's policy on helping further develop Thai farm products throughout their supply chains by working together with local farmers through joint plans on growing local farm produce and improving logistics to be more efficient to maintain the freshness of local farm products and to eventually reduce costs for both local farmers and Tesco Group, while also offering more quality products and reasonable prices to consumers. Expressing his confidence in the potential of the Thai economy, the Tesco Group's CEO announced that his business conglomerate plans to open more branches of Tesco Lotus hypermarket in Thailand, where more online services will also be launched to provide its customers with more access to high quality products with reasonable prices. Besides, Tesco Group will continue providing customers with discounted prices for necessary products to help ease their living costs. The Tesco Group's CEO pointed out that Thailand is a major hypermarket for his business conglomerate outside the United Kingdom and his group has no plan to make any change in their stakes in Tesco Lotus in Thailand.
