U.S. To Invest In Ternate In Fisheries And Tourism Sectors

Jakarta, Dec 19 (Antara) -- The Consulate General of the United States will invest in Ternate, North Maluku, in the fields of fisheries and tourism. "The U. S. Consul Brandon Possin, who is also the current head of economics and politics, is interested in the investments. Possin and Eric Groff of the political affairs, are visiting Ternate to closely inspect the potential for fisheries and tourism in the city," Mayor of Ternate Burhan Abdurahman said here on Thursday. He added that the consulate general was visiting Ternate as a potential investor. During the meeting, the mayor explained that the U. S. consulate was interested in investing in the fields of electricity, tourism and fisheries. The mayor welcomed the enthusiasm of the foreign investors, stating that it would help to boost economic growth in the region. "The local government is ready to accommodate any investors and hopes that they prioritize the construction of roads," Abdurahman remarked. According to him, the U. S. investors will invest in electricity because the availability of electric power in the city of Ternate was still relatively low. "For services and trade, we require greater supply of power," he pointed out. He further noted that the local government had prepared tools for the development of electricity network in Ternate. "We welcome their investment plans in electricity," he reiterated. In addition, the mayor also stated that the local government was open to and accepted investors, both local and foreign, willing to invest in Ternate. He hoped that the interested investors would cooperate with the local government as soon as possible. "We want to begin work fast. We will accept local and foreign investors aspiring to explore any kind of cooperation," he added.
