US wants to join infrastructure development in Thailand

BANGKOK, June 4 (TNA) - The United States has eyed to join in new infrastructure investment projects in Thailand. US Charge d'Affaires Patrick Murphy expressed the interest during a meeting with Thai Transport Minister Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong in Bangkok on Thursday. The Thai transport minister told reporters, after the meeting, that Murphy informed him US companies are interested in investing in mega-infrastructure development projects in Thailand, including road and rail ones. According to the transport minister, Washington also offered to transfer knowledge on road safety to Thai agencies concerned and he, thus, ordered his ministry's Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTTPP) to further discuss the issue with the US side. Besides, the US charge d'affaires proposed to help liaise with the US Federal Aviation Administration, which is scheduled to check the standard of Thailand's Department of Civil Aviation next month.
