Vietnamese guest workers to RoK increase

Hanoi, July 14 (VNA) - In the first six month of this year, the number of Vietnamese workers employed in the Republic of Korea (RoK) increased 182 percent from a year earlier. As many as 5,000 Vietnamese workers have, so far this year, signed contracts with Korean employers, said Luong Duc Long, Deputy Director of the Overseas Labour Centre under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA). Long also said the percentage of overstayed Vietnamese workers in the RoK has dropped since a special memorandum of understanding on dispatching Vietnamese labourers to the country was signed between the two countries six months ago. According to official statistics released on July 2 by the MOLISA, most of Vietnam’s major labour export markets such as Taiwan (China), Japan and RoK enjoyed remarkable growth. This year, Vietnam expects to send 14,000 Vietnamese labourers to work in the RoK.-VNA
