Water agencies to hold meeting

BANGKOK, Jan 23 (TNA) -- Thailand's water-related agencies are set to hold the THA 2017, an International Conference on Water Management and Climate Change Toward Asia's Water-Energy-Food-Nexus, where this year conference would focus on problems in the ASEAN region. Chulalongkorn University, together with eight other water-related agencies, including the Royal Irrigation Department (RID), Kasetsart University and Hydrology Centre held a joint press conference announcing the holding of the 2nd THA 2017 between January 25-26 at the Swiss Hotel Le Concorde. Asst Prof Dr Supot Teachavorasinskun, dean of the Engineering Faculty said the meeting would be focused on climate change, water resources, and environment in the Asian region, all of which are showing signs of intensifying and gravely affecting the countries in Asia, such as devastating floods in various areas, extreme drought, and land collapse. He said the water agencies have foreseen the intensity of such problems and have decided to organise the 2nd THA, where members would present their research projects and water management technology, as well serve as platform for water management, natural disasters, and climate change experience exchange among concerned education institutions and agecencies to create effective cooperation within the ASEAN region.
