WB May Resume Allocating Banking Facilities To Iran

Tehran, May 20, IRNA - A senior economic official said on Tuesday that consultations were underway with the World Bank (WB) to allocate new banking facilities to Iran after a five-year suspension. Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Behrouz Alishiri told IRNA that so far, two WB delegations have visited Iran presenting technical advices to the Iranian side and a timetable was also set for bilateral cooperation. Noting that Iran has not received any banking facilities from WB during the last five years, the official noted the WB has not declared any reason for the suspension. However, he added, ˈIt was indirectly felt that the anti-Iran sanctions were the main cause of the halt,ˈ he added./end
