WOQOD Adds Bitumen Tanker 'Sidra Al Wakra' to Fleet

Doha, November 25 (QNA) - Qatar Fuel (WOQOD) has purchased a Bitumen Tanker with modern specifications from China for $6 million and the vessel will join the company's ships fleet by the end of the year, it said in a press release. The Double Hull and Double Bottom tanker which has been built in China in 2012 with a gross tonnage weight of 2512 tons has been named Sidra Al Wakra and was registered in Liberia and hoists the flag of the African country under a non-resident Liberian entity by the name of Sidra Al Wakra Shipping Company. WOQOD is currently supplying the Qatari local market with Bitumen in a routine way through two owned ships by the name of Sidra Al Wajba and Sidra Messaieed. After WOQOD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last March with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), wherein WOQOD committed to provide a big quantity of approximately 130,000 tons of Bitumen and Polymer Modified Bitumen for utilization in Ashghal current and future infrastructure projects, particularly those projects under Ashghal five-year projects plan 20142019, WOQOD managed to buy the aforesaid vessel for satisfaction of its obligations with Ashghal and Ashghal contractors. WOQOD top management prospects that the purchase of this new ship will contribute significantly in the increase of the capacity of its current Marine fleet, and upgrade the company capacity towards availing the required quantities of Bitumen to the local market and Ashghal requirements , the same contributing positively in achieving and completing the Government projects in a timely manner.
