WSA: Iran’s Crude Steel Output Rises To 9.955m Tons In 1st 6 Months

Tehran, Sept 22, IRNA -- The World Steel Association (Worldsteel) has reported that Iran’s crude steel production stood at 9.955 million tons in the first six months of 2013. According to the Worldsteel report, Iran’s crude steel output in August showed an increase of 13.2 percent, reaching 1.292 million tons. The WSA has in its latest report said Iran’s unprocessed steel production in August 2013 stood at 1.292 million tons. Iran’s crude steel production growth in August 2013 was higher than that of major unprocessed steel producers worldwide such as China, India, Japan, South Korea, the US, Ukraine, Turkey, Germany and Italy. Based on the report, majority of major crude steel producers faced production fall in August 2013 compared to the corresponding period the previous year. Germany, the US, South Korea, Japan, and Italy had production declines of 6.3 pc, 2.9 pc, 13.1 pc, 0.6 pc and 7.5 pc respectively. The Association announced that crude steel production in 64 countries in the past eight months grew by 2.3 percent to stand at more than 1.05 billion tons combined in the past eight months.
