Zanganeh Outlines Petroleum Ministryˈs Priorities

Tehran, March 30, IRNA - Minister of Petroleum Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said that the petroleum ministry is determined to pursue ˈResistance Economyˈ over the course of the new Iranian calendar year, which began March 21. Speaking on the sideline of a public meeting with Petroleum Ministry’s staff on the occasion of the New Year, Zanganeh said that the designation of the new year as “The Year of Economy and Culture with National Drive and Jihadi Management”, by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, indicates the importance of economy, in particular, Economy of Resistance policies. Referring to the oil industryˈs performance during last year he said: the most important event was moving towards professionalism in the oil industry and prevention of overcoming non-professional views, a process which will continue over the current year, the Petroenergy news network SHANA quoted him as saying on Sunday. Going ahead with development of shared oil and gas fields including development of the South Pars gas field, Azadegan and other oil fields located in West Karoun Region are among the priorities of Petroleum Ministry, Zanganeh added. Launching the second phase of development plan of Abadan oil refinery, optimizing fuel consumption especially in public transportation sector and pursuing development plans in petrochemical industry are the other programs of Petroleum Ministry over the course of the new year, he said. On the implementation of the second phase of targeting subsidies law, Zanganeh noted that the pace of price hike would be mild even though the Petroleum Ministry as an executive body will put into force any decision being made in this regard./end
