Chinese doctors to perform free cataract surgery in Bishkek and Osh

Bishkek, July 27, 2023. / Kabar/. Chinese doctors will perform free cataract surgery on the eyes in Bishkek and Osh, the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan said.

Kyrgyz Health Minister Gulnara Baatyrova discussed with Chinese Ambassador Du Dewen the prospects for cooperation in the field of healthcare at a meeting on July 25.

The diplomatic representative announced the plans of the Center for International Cooperation and Cooperation under the State Committee for Health of the People's Republic of China to implement the Express Health project in September this year.

It is specified that within the framework of this project, free cataract operations will be carried out for 600 Kyrgyzstanis, of which 300 operations are planned to be carried out in Bishkek and another 300 in Osh.

Operations will be carried out on the basis of the National Hospital and the Osh Interregional United Hospital.

For the successful implementation of the project, the Chinese side will send two groups of medical specialists who will carry out operations on the basis of these medical institutions, the report said.

In addition, to ensure the creation of an examination room for the ophthalmology department, the Osh Interregional United Hospital will receive the necessary medical equipment free of charge.

Baatyrova expressed her sincere gratitude to the government of the People's Republic of China for the invaluable contribution made to the healthcare system of the Kyrgyz Republic.

She also stressed her confidence in the further development of friendly relations between the two countries and the strengthening of mutual support and understanding in the field of health.

At the meeting, the parties noted that cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the People's Republic of China in the health sector promises to benefit many of our citizens and expressed hope for the successful implementation of the Health Express project and other future initiatives.
