“Arga Bileg” modern folk group nominated for Grammy Awards

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The “Agula” album released by Mongolian "Agra Bileg" folk group has passed a first stage of the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, said Wednesday a "news.mn" website. This group that combines traditional Mongolian music with jazz is currently collaborating with the Swiss “Musiques Suisses” studio. It is not clear if the group will participate in the 2016 Grammy Award ceremony which is expected February 15 of 2016 in the Staples Center in Los Angeles of USA. "We have passed the initial--the recording--stage only but are really glad," say the band's members. Founded in 2009, the “Arga Bilge” consists of three Morin Khuur (Horse-head fiddle) players, one Yatga (national zither) and pianist player each and two percussionists. This group performs national music pieces, combining it with ethno-jazz, has staged its concerts in Russia, China, USA, Japan, South Korea, Germany and France.
