Bergen, Norway, hosts Azerbaijani Culture Days

Baku, May 22 (AzerTAc). The Norwegian city of Bergen has hosted the Days of Culture of Azerbaijan. An idea of Nigar Gahramanova, a student at Grieg Academy, the event was organized by Azerbaijani-Turkish Culture House in partnership with Grieg Academy Department of Music at the University of Bergen. The Days started with a seminar at the Grieg Academy, which provided an insight into Azerbaijan`s past and present as well as the history and consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The seminar featured two lections given by Nigar Gahramanova, a laureate of international contests, the holder of the stipend of the Azerbaijani President. She drew the audience`s attention to the history of classical and folk Azerbaijani music, including mugham, and highlighted visits of Thor Heyerdahl to Azerbaijan. Humay Gasimzade, also a student at Grieg Academy, performed Shur Magami on piano. The Days of Azerbaijani Culture also featured a concert of organ music at the Church of the Holy Johannes. Nigar Gahramanova performed masterpieces by Azerbaijani composers. Another event took place at the Academic Quarter Student Society where Gahramanova performed Azerbaijani national song “Sari Galin” dedicating it to Karabakh war victims.
