Berlin Film Festival Director Feels Touched By Iranian Films

Berlin, Jan 29, IRNA -- The head of the Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale) Dieter Kosslick went out of his way to praise Iranian cinema, saying he felt personally touched by Iranian movies. Addressing the Berlin-based foreign press ahead of the 64th Berlinale (February 6-16) Monday evening, Kosslick said watching Iranian movies always touch ˈhis heart and soul.ˈ He highlighted the latest work ˈThe Pastˈ by renowned Iranian film director Asghar Farhadi as another example of the ongoing global success of Iranˈs films industry. Kosslick pointed also out that two Iranian movies would be showcased at the Berlinale. He voiced regret that many of the Iranian films which the Berlinale scouts wanted, were not ready in time to be screened in Berlin. The fact that only two Iranian movies are shown at this yearˈs Berlinale is ˈonly coincidence,ˈ Kosslick reiterated. Iranian films at the Berlinale have made international headlines in recent year after winning the much-coveted Golden and Silver Bears. Kosslick has played a key role in bringing Iranian movies to the Berlinale, since being named the director of the Berlin film event in 2001./end
