BTS album climbs Billboard 200 in its 17th week on the chart

SEOUL, Feb. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korean boy band BTS climbed up the Billboard 200 albums chart with an album released more than four months ago, according to the U.S. music chart updated Tuesday (U.S. local time). "Love Yourself: Her," out since September, took the 67th spot on the chart for the week of Feb. 10, up from 90th the previous week. It remained on the chart for the 17th consecutive week. The remix of "MIC Drop," a different version of a song on the album, ranked 98th on the Billboard Hot 100, staying on the singles chart for the 10th consecutive week. Although the song fell 14 spots from the previous week, BTS remains the longest-lasting K-pop act on the chart. On Saturday, the song was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It is the second K-pop song to gain an RIAA certification following Psy's "Gangnam Style," which went multiplatinum in 2012 and 2013, for its digital and physical versions, respectively. To be certified gold by the RIAA, a song must move more than 500,000 equivalent units between digital downloads and audio and video streaming, with 150 streams counting as one formal unit, according to Billboard. sshim@yna.co.kr (END)
