Ed Sheeran, Jay Chou Are Spotify's Most Streamed Artists In Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- Pop singer Ed Sheeran tops the list of Spotify's most streamed artist in Malaysia, and Mandopop king Jay Chou is the only Asian artist rounding out the top five of Spotify's annual Year in Music list this year. Spotify is a digital music service that provides on-demand access to over 30 million tracks in 58 markets globally, with more than 75 million active users and over 20 million paying subscribers. Its annual Year in Music list reveal the artists and songs that are the most popular with music fans around the world in 2015. In a statement Tuesday, Spotify said more music was listened to by more music fans this year than ever before around the world, with over 2.0 billion playlists created. Fans also discovered more new music and artists this year with streams of Spotify's Discover Weekly personalised playlists, which are refreshed to Spotify users every Monday, reaching 1.7 billion streams in five months, it said. In Malaysia, "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa (featuring Charlie Puth) is the most streamed track among Malaysian music fans and Meghan Trainor's "Title" is the most streamed album of the year. Top artists in Malaysia were Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Maroon 5 and Sam Smith while Jay Chou, BigBang, JJ Lin, EXO and Datuk Siti Nurhaliza were the top Asian Artists in Malaysia. --BERNAMA
