India Hosts Iranian Film Festival

Tehran, Oct 20, IRNA – Three-day Iranians Film Festival was inaugurated Friday by screening the film ‘Gold and Copper’ directed by Homayoun As’adian. The films participating in the festival represent a new wave of Iranian cinema, with most of them being artistic works with political and philosophical messages. Iran’s consul general in Hyderabad, Hassan Nourian, said that the festival will help enhance Iran-India bilateral ties. The film recounts the story of a young seminary school student who has come to Qom to continue his theological studies. But his wife gets MS, creating a lot of problems for him to struggle with. Other films scheduled to be showcased in this year’s festival include ‘Here without Me’ by Bahram Tavakkoli, ‘Favorite Sky’ by Darioush Mehrjouei, ‘Child and Angel’ by Masoud Naqqashzadeh, and ‘Family Communication’ by Nader Moqaddas. Organizers of the 44th International India Film Festival have declared that Majid Majidi, noted Iranian director, is to attend the event as a guest of honor./end
