Indonesia To Woo More Visitors Through Participation In Matta Fair

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- Indonesia is eyeing more tourist arrivals from Malaysia after being designated as an 'ASEAN Favourite Destination' in the upcoming Malaysian Association of Tours and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair this month. Indonesia's Tourism Ministry director of promotions for Southeast Asia Rizki Handayani noted that Malaysia was the second biggest source market for Indonesia after Singapore, for many years. "In 2014, visitors from Malaysia totaled 1,276,105, up by 298 per cent over 2013. This year, we expect to welcome 1.7 million Malaysian visitors. Our participation as the ASEAN Favourite Destination at the MATTA Fair 2015 is expected to significantly contribute to achieving the target," she told a joint press conference with MATTA here Tuesday. Noting that tourists had become more demanding, she said Indonesia offered a wide array of attractions for tourists such as shopping, heritage wonders, stunning beaches, golf as well as health and wellness programmes. At the MATTA Fair scheduled from Sept 4 to 6, the Indonesian ministry is occupying several booths at Hall 3 of the Putra World Trade Centre. --BERNAMA
