INTERNATIONAL MORINKHUUR FESTIVAL WRAPS UP

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Co-organized by the Department of Culture and Arts of the Capital city and the World Morin Khuur Association, the Sixth Morinkhuur international festival closed with a gala concert on July 5 at Sukhbaatar square. Deputy director of the World Morinkhuur Association J.Uugantuya said that in the scope of the biennial Morinkhuur festival, seven events such as competition of amateur and professional Morinkhuur players and the Morinkhuur musical instrument makers, concerts of domestic and foreign participants, meeting and discussion, and exhibition were organized. As for this year, the festival gathered artists from nine countries. Although artists from Republic of Korea and the Federal Republic of Germany could not attend the festival, they sent their greetings. Currently, there are 11 countries where the Morinkhuur is played. The festival is significant to promote Mongolia through the Morinkhuur, and Mongolian art and culture. She also expressed her hope that festival’s importance will be increased with the rise of number of international participants. The participants of Morinkhuur festival attended opening ceremony of ‘Eternal Sky’ Arts and Cultural Festival of Mongol Nations which is taking place in Ulaanbaatar on July 6-8. E.Altanzul
