Iran Participates In 9th IAWRT Asian Womenˈs Film Festival In New Delhi

New Delhi, March 6, IRNA – Focusing on films from Iran and South Korea, the 9th edition of IAWRT Asian Womenˈs Film Festival 2013 kicked off Tuesday evening at India International Centre in New Delhi. The three-day film festival by Asian women filmmakers includes a range of genres - animation, documentary, experimental, short fiction and fiction feature. Apart from films, the festival also includes two exhibitions and a seminar. Films, with the issues of immigration, family, parents, city life, nationalities and art, created or produced by women will be on display in the festival. Speaking on the occasion, Ali Fouladi, Iranˈs cultural attaché in India said, “By 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran, Modern and International quality of Cinema opened new eyes to Iranian cinema, and meaningful and responsible cinema replaced the Iranian commercial cinema”. He said that rich culture, thoughts and human values entered to the cinema industry specially the role of women in cinema changed, adding that many of the Iranian cinema women have become internationally well known directors. Now Cinema in Iran is one of the most powerful tool of communication carrying human values for the betterment of society, he added. The Iranian diplomat also appreciated the initiative of the organizer with the hope that it will open a new chapter in the field of cinema./end
