Iranian Films Welcomed In Singapore Filmfest

Tehran, June 24, IRNA – Iranian films have been warmly welcomed in Singapore film festival, Iranˈs Ambassador to Singapore Javad Ansari said on Tuesday. Singaporeans in general have a good impression of Iranian films because of the commercial success of films such as ˈChildren of Heavenˈ (1997) and ˈA Separationˈ (2011), which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2012. Singapore held its first-ever Iranian Film Festival last week and eight Iranian films were screened. The festival opened on last Thursday with the presence of Singapore Parliament Speaker Halimah Yacob. The festival was supported by Singaporeˈs Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organized by the Singapore Film Society. Iran is very rich in culture, going back 5,000 years. Iranians are especially good in movies and literature. They are an Asian film powerhouse, and many of their films have won international prizes./end
