Kamkars Hold Concert

Tehran, June 22, IRNA -- The Iranian Kurdish ensemble ˈKamkarsˈ plan to hold a concert at Tehranˈs Milad Tower. Conducted by Houshang Kamkar, the group will perform new pieces of Persian and Kurdish folklore music in two parts, according to Iran Dailyˈs Sunday edition. In the first part, the ensemble will feature compositions based on poems by Persian classical poets, including Rumi and Khaqani as well as contemporary ones such as Akhavan Sales. Kurdish music will be performed in the second part with nostalgic pieces such as ˈSweet Sweetieˈ and ˈKurdish Dressˈ. Ardavan and Pashang Kamkar (santur), Ardeshir Kamkar (kamancheh), Arjang Kamkar (tonbak), Qashang Kamkar (setar) and Arsalan Kamkar (lute) are the members of the group. Kamkars ensemble is one of the best musical groups in Iran dominating traditional Iranian music and Kurdish music. They have staged many international performances including one in the World Music Expo, an international world music support and development project based in Berlin, Germany./end
