KLIJF To Feature Malaysian-Indonesian Jazz Music

KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur International Jazz Festival (KLIJF) in May will feature performances by Malaysian and Indonesian musicians apart from other international artistes. This is a special session to follow-up on the successful outing two days ago in northern Sumatra, Indonesia. Festival manager, Shahidah M. Hashim said the event at Dewan Tunku Canselor of Malaysian university, Universiti Malaya would highlight the collaboration of Malaysian and Indonesian jazz musicians on various pieces. "The Malaysians had put up classic Malay jazz using traditional drums such as the rebana to display a unique Malaysian culture there," she said when contacted by Bernama, here. "We also hope to draw more Malaysians to this genre of music with our local favoured jazz music," she added. --BERNAMA
