TOKYO, July 31. /TASS/. Japanese concert-goers will gather in coming days for a three-city international music festival directed by Russian maestro Valery Gergiev. The four-day Pacific International Youth Festival opens on Saturday at Sapporo in northern Japan, assembling an orchestra of 80 musicians aged between 18 and 29, performers this year for a musical celebration which since 1990 has assembled 3,000 young musicians from more than 70 countries. Gergiev is joined in Japan by Russian pianist Dmitry Masleev, winner of this year’s International Tchaikovsky Competition. For four evenings on August 1-4, he will play Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto under Gergiev’s direction.
