Malaysian Animated Series, 'Stoppy' For ASEAN, Middle East Markets

By Norsyafawati Ab Wahab PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), July 22 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian creative content producer is hoping to penetrate the ASEAN and Middle East markets with its latest children's animated series,'Stoppy'. Animonsta Studios Sdn Bhd is banking on its joint international endeavour with established Japanese toy company, TOMY, to draw young audience to Stoppy and match the appeal of its animated series, BoBoiBoy. Animonsta Studios managing director Mohd Nizam Razak said production of Stoppy would begin this August using toy vehicle characters created by TOMY, and expected to be completed in 2017. "For the first phase, we plan to produce 26 episodes," he told Bernama. Stoppy is based on the adventure of a bus and its 'siblings', incorporating educational elements and family bond to cater to children particularly those aged six years and below. Meanwhile, Mohd Nizam said following the success of the animated series BoBoiBoy, Animonsta Studios planned to produce its first animated film, 'BoBoiBoy The Movie: Sfera Kuasa' in December. Costing about US$1.18 million (RM4.5 million), the film would be screened simultaneously in Malaysia and Indonesia. "We chose Indonesia because BoBoiBoy had received very encouraging response there. "BoBoiBoy was the second top TV programme every Sunday and among the top 10 on ordinary days. For us this is a huge success for Malaysian-made animation products," he said. -- BERNAMA
