PLAY BASED ON LIFE OF HIGH SAINT G.ZANABAZAR TO BE STAGED

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The ‘High Saint’ musical play by Musical theatre named after L.Vangan of Zavkhan aimag is to be staged on May 5, 8 at the State Academic Theatre of Drama. The play is based on life of renowned Mongolian spiritual leader, artist and polymath G.Zanabazar, who studied Buddhist teachings from his early childhood and preached the religion. His desire to enlighten the spirit of the people, strengthen the national unity and restore the power of the ancient empire is revealed in the play from personal perspective. Director of the play N.Naranbaatar said “It took more than a year to produce the play. ‘High Saint’ was selected in the second round of Saint Muse festival and nominated in six nominations. Zanabazar was an outstanding enlightener promoting Mongolia to the world. Thus, we tried to show his contribution to Mongolia including religious knowledge he disseminated as a spiritual leader and remarkable design he inherited to us as an artist.” The musical was nominated for ‘Saint Muse-14’ international theatre festival in categories of best director, music composer, production designer, best actor, actress and supporting actor and actress.
