IRDA Chief Executive Ismail Ibrahim said the third batch programme includes post-production courses such as compositing and editing; sound editing and mixing; archiving and restoration; and digital distribution. "The graduates from this programme will not only support the local creative industry but will also assist in the training of more industry professionals for the future," he told reporters during the official launch of the third batch courses at the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), here. Also present was PIMS Chief Executive Officer Rezal Rahman. This third batch programme will be carried out in partnership with Imagica International Asia Sdn Bhd from Japan, one of the world's leading full-fledged digital post-production companies. The first batch in 2013 covered pre-production courses while the second batch covered a wide range of film making skill-sets including production management, art department and casting was carried out in collaboration with Met Film School from United Kingdom in 2014. Ismail said last year, Master-classes were made available to Malaysian film makers in cinematic areas which covered screenwriting, production design, global producing and film financing. "A total of 28 courses and 10 Master-classes have been executed under the programme throughout 2013 and 2014, while the remaining four courses will be executed this year. "The courses are fully funded as part of the initiative to develop and grow the local film making crew base to enable a seamless integration with the incoming international film production, in line with the opening of PIMS," he added. Eligible Malaysians can now register for the courses at www.iskandar-film-training.com.my until 15 May, as the selected trainees will commence their three-month course beginning May to August this year. Meanwhile, Rezal said similar to the previous batches, this courses will be taught by qualified and experienced experts in the respective fields, allowing the trainees to gain valuable knowledge of international best practices in film making. PIMS, a fully integrated production facility offering film stages, television studios and post-production, is set to become the region's hub for international productions. Meanwhile, IRDA is a Malaysian federal government statutory body tasked with the objective of regulating and driving various stakeholders in both public and private sector towards realising the vision of developing Iskandar Malaysia into a strong and sustainable metropolis of international standing. --BERNAMA
