Saket to perform in Germany

Tehran, March 11, IRNA - Renowned Iranian 'tar' virtuoso Keivan Saket is to hold traditional music concerts in Germany. The artist said he will stage three concerts with the German Symphony Orchestra in the Iranian year to begin March 21, Iran Daily. Accompanied by German instrumentalists, he will later perform in Tehran in September. 'The coming year will be a prolific one for me,' Saket said, adding that he will release an album featuring the voice of vocalist Salar Aqili. Born in 1960 in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province, Saket took up music during his elementary school years. He learned to play the traditional Persian instrument 'tar' under the guidance of his uncle Manoucher Zamanian. He has studied the works of classical and contemporary Iranian musicians, and brought innovations in blending traditional Iranian music and Western classical music. The artist recently released two sections of the radif in Persian traditional music, which is a collection of many old melodic figures preserved through generations through oral tradition. Saket has also worked with many great figures of Iranian music such as Hamid Motebassem and the late Parviz Meshkatian.
