UiTM-Unesco International Jazz Day 2018 Celebration This Weekend

KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (Bernama) – Local jazz fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a concert this weekend at Annexe Hall, UITM Shah Alam, Selangor in conjunction with International Jazz Day 2018. Organised jointly by UiTM and UNESCO, the concert would include performances by Malaysian singer Asmidar Ahmad, UiTM’s Big Band and The Malaysian Yellow Jackets. UiTM’s music lecturer Amanina Alwani Badaruddin said the two-day concert would be staged at the university’s main campus. “This is our first collaboration since we started organising this event in 2012. Most of the performances would be presented by our talented students from all the faculties and lecturers from the Music Faculty,” she said. Speaking to Bernama after appearing as a guest on the Nine-11 programme on Bernama News Channel here Wednesday, Amanina said the concerts would comprise an ensemble of ethnic jazz, Malaysian jazz and rhythm-and-blues, infused with traditional music.
