Clean Up UAE Campaign: volunteers collect 98 tonnes of waste

Dubai, December 28, 2014 (WAM): The Emirates Environmental Group,EEG, have been able to bring together more than 123,000 volunteers to participate in the 13th edition of their campaign "Clean Up UAE", where they successfully collected 98 tonnes of waste from 104 different locations in the UAE. Mrs. Habiba Al Marashi, the Chairperson of EEG thanked all of the volunteers that proved the importance of the topic of environmental protection, also particularly giving thanks to those members that put together this campaign, which they have been organising year after year. The campaign has also been able to involve governmental agencies in the campaign through their logistics support, which has played a big role in its success in the different Emirates. The 13th cycle saw the participation of corporations and governmental agencies in the campaign and managed to build a relationship between them and the communities and individuals involved and this has had a positive impact on activities that are aimed at creating public awareness with regards to protecting our environment and the natural resources for the future generations to come. She commended the positive contribution of the students that have proved their capabilities in being environmental protectors, especially those members of the group that have set a great example of actively participating on a yearly basis to servicing their environment.
