Hamdan bin Zayed: UAE is a leading state regionally in the field of green development

ABU DHABI, 4th February, 2016 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, EAD, has stressed that the United Arab Emirates is aware of its responsibility in protecting nature and limiting the impact of economic growth and urbanisation on the natural habitats and ecosystems, as a leading state regionally in the field of green development. Sheikh Hamdan expressed his pride in the care and support given by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Honorary President of EAD, to environmental efforts in general and the activities and programmes of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi in particular, which, he said, have had the greatest impact in promoting environmental protection and natural resources conservation efforts. In his speech on the occasion of National Environment Day, which falls tomorrow, 4th February, being held under the slogan, "Green Economy : Innovation : Sustainability", Sheikh Hamdan said that the Abu Dhabi government is committed to further strengthening the UAE green economy model and to boost the country's stature as a role model in the field of sustainable development.
