Haze: Malaysia Ready To Assist Indonesia

TANJUNG MALIM (Perak, Malaysia), Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is ready to assist Indonesia, in terms of information expertise and assets, in addressing the plantation and forest fires that caused the haze. Natural Resources and Environment Minister Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said his ministry through the Department of Environment would provide information or data on hotspot fires besides sending experts for the second phase subjected to requests from Indonesia. "I have telephoned Indonesia's Foreign Minister and discussed the kind of assistance they need from their neighbours, especially Malaysia. "Hence I have directed the ministry's general-secretary to deal with the matter for the sake of safety and well-being," he told reporters. -- BERNAMA
