Japan to implement two environmental projects in Persian Gulf

Tehran, May 6, IRNA – Head of International Affairs Center of the Department of Environment (DoE) said that government of Japan is ready to undertake implementation of two environmental projects in the Persian Gulf. On the sidelines of signing ceremony for a cooperation document of Japan’s government to restore Oroumeyeh Lake, Majid Shafipour told IRNA that the Japanese government, in direction of its international cooperation, has undertaken implementation of two projects of the environment protection in Qeshm Island and confrontation with environmental pollution in the Persian Gulf. He declared allocation of five to 50 million dollars to these projects and said that level of credit depends on work progress. The official said that upon the agreements, the cooperation documents will be signed in the upcoming month by Iranian side (DoE) and Japanese government. Japan’s government has allocated one million dollars to restore Lake Oroumeyeh, and its cooperation document was signed on Monday here by Vice-President and Head of DoE Ma’soumeh Ebtekar and the UN resident coordinator in Tehran Gary Lewis and Japan embassy Charge dˈ affaires in Tehran Akira Chiba. end
