Malaysia's SDG Conference 2019 Tackles Issues, Insights, Challenges

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Bernama) -- The one-day Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Conference 2019 took off here Thursday, discussing key issues, insights and challenges in achieving goals. Themed ‘People, Planet & Profit for the Next Generation’, the programme attracted almost 500 participants from across different sectors, especially the next generation of leaders. The forum provided practical insights on the concrete actions that Malaysian businesses could take in shaping the country's direction on achieving the Global Goals - Agenda 2030. The topics discussed included gender equality and climate action in achieving SDGs; employment and the future of work; social entrepreneurship in Malaysia; and, shaping the future of Malaysia's healthcare system. Among key public figures participating in the forum discussion were Health Deputy Minister, Dr Lee Boon Chye and Deputy Minister (Religious Affairs) in the Prime Minister Department, Fuziah Salleh. The conference was hosted by Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, a private international university across Africa, Europe and Asia. The conference was jointly organised by the Global Compact Network Malaysia, a local chapter of UN Global Compact and Junior Chamber International Entrepreneur Metropolitan Kuala Lumpur. -- BERNAMA
