Moderate Earthquake Hits Irian Jaya

KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Irian Jaya, Indonesia, at 1.35 am Tuesday. The Malaysian Meteorology Department, in a statement Tuesday, said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 61 km and 253 km west of Jayapura, Indonesia.
