Moderate Earthquake Strikes Minahassa Peninsula, Sulawesi

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.9 on the Richter Scale, struck the Minahassa Peninsula, Sulawesi in Indonesia at 4.59 am Thursday, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department. The department in a statement here said that the quake occurred 64 km south of Gorontalo, Indonesia at a depth of 164 km.
