No Compromise On Reprimanding Perpetrators Of Environmental Crimes: President

Jakarta, June 5 (Antara) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) affirmed that there would be no compromise on reprimanding the perpetrators of environmental damage. "I want to emphasize that there will be no compromise on punishing the perpetrators involved in illegal fishing, illegal logging, and illegal mining that cause tremendous damage to the environment," President Jokowi remarked during a press conference at the Bogor Palace on Friday. The head of state affirmed that he will order the security officials to take decisive steps in enforcing the law against those who are responsible for environmental damage. In his speech to mark World Environment Day 2015 at the Bogor Palace, the president stated that the government is committed to improving the quality of environmental management through spatial arrangement. "Spatial arrangement is very important, especially in the mining, forestry, and marine sectors that need our serious attention," the president remarked. Jokowi noted that environmental management should also be backed by decisive action against the perpetrators of environmental crimes.
