KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 (Bernama) -- A strong earthquake of 6.1 on the Richter scale hit North Island, New Zealand, at 10.13 am Tuesday. The Malaysian Meteorology Department, in a statement, said the quake, detected at a depth of 195 kilometre and 57 kilometres from New Plymouth, New Zealand , did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia. -- BERNAMA
