Results and achievements of FAO project on forestry promoted to public

Selenge /MONTSAME/. A tour was organized in the Khuvsgul and Bulgan aimags in aims of discussing the results of the project, ‘Mainstreaming biodiversity conservation, SFM and carbon sink enhancement into Mongolia’s productive forest landscapes’ and exchanging experiences. 101 forest user groups of Selenge, Darkhan-Uul, Bulgan, Khuvsgul and Khentii aimags have been involved in the project that has been implemented since 2015. The Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are jointly implementing the project, of which aims are to improve the protection of biodiversity in forest landscapes, and developing joint forest management. The groups involved in the project are responsible for the protection of ecologically important four regions and basins of 10 rivers in the five aimags. In the framework of the project, training is being conducted in order to support operations of the groups, improve their capacity and inform them some ways of taking measures on forestry. During the course of the five years the project has been implemented, the forest user groups were able to benefit from the project, alongside doing various works in partnership. Thus, in aims of promoting the results and achievements of some of the works they have done with the support of the project, and exchanging information, a tour was organized for becoming acquainted with the operations of the community based natural resource management groups in selected soums of Bulgan and Khuvsgul aimags.
