Ruler of Sharjah releases herd of Rhim gazelles into Kalba Mangrove reserve

Abu Dhabi (WAM): H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, yesterday released 8 Rhim gazelles into a protected Kalba mangrove. He also attended the launch of the first two artificial nests for eagle (fish eagle) in the UAE. Sheikh Sultan toured the reserve, where he inspected the future projects. Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), said the Ruler of Sharjah had released in the first phase 38 endangered gazelle species in 2012, adding that 8 others were released yesterday in the second phase of such operation into Kalba mangrove reserve. She noted that the two artificial nests for fish eagle bird were launched for the first time in the UAE. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
