Southern Thailand Affected By The Haze

NARATHIWAT, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- The haze has not only affected Malaysia and Singapore but the problem is also experienced by the people in southern Thailand. The haze caused by huge Indonesian forest fires has also hit the provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Songkhla and Satun up to Krabi. The Yala Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office in monitoring the haze situation has advised residents in the province to take extra caution during the hazy weather conditons. Its director Kállay Tokwae-Ayee said a check on the air quality in southern Thailand on Oct 3 has revealed the condition to be at moderate level with no adverse health effects to the population yet. However, those suffering from respiratory problems should avoid outdoor activities, she said. -- BERNAMA
