Strong Earthquake In South Sumatera, Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- An earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale struck southern Sumatera, Indonesia at 6.29 am Wednesday. According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the quake occurred at 131 kilometres southwest of Bengkulu, Indonesia, with a depth of 84 kilometres. The quake did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said. -- BERNAMA
