Strong Quake Rocks Tonga Islands

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit the Tonga Islands at 9.13 Thursday morning. The Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement that the quake was located 834 km east of Laucala, Fiji. “However, the earthquake did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia,” the statement said. -- BERNAMA
