UAE residents plant 600 indigenous trees in Fujairah through EEG’s various recycling campaigns

FUJAIRAH, 17th February, 2016 (WAM) -- The Emirates Environmental Group, EEG, has organised its annual "For Our Emirates We Plant" Campaign in the Emirate of Fujairah, which is aimed at helping the national environment as a whole. EEG is continuing its legacy of creating green spaces in the UAE under the umbrella of the campaign that kicked off in 2007. Through the active participation of a vast number of people, companies and schools, the group has managed to plant over 2,093,927 indigenous trees across the Emirates. The continuous initiative has influenced a large number of people and organisations to collect and deposit paper, plastic, mobile phones, toners, battery, aluminium cans and beverage cartons for recycling. As a result of their efforts and commitment, the participants are awarded with the opportunity to plant trees under their names at this annual event. During the event, residents from all sectors of society, public and private institutions, academic institutions and families, came together to plant a total of 600 indigenous trees. This event brought the curtains down on the three most important annual programmes of EEG for the year 2015. These were the "Your Can for a Tree Initiative", the "Neighbourhood Recycling Project" and the "One Root One Communi-Tree Project". During the entire tree planting drive, all the trees were planted under the name of the participating organisations, academic institutions or families. EEG is now looking to continue this momentum into its various campaigns planned for 2016 and endeavours to create even more green spaces through this unique programme. The Emirates Environmental Group extended its thanks to Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation for preparing the site and providing other logistical support. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/general/1395291672745.html
