Avoid Superstitious Thinking, Behaviour During Wukuf In Arafah, Pilgrims Told

From Mohd Shukri Ishak MAKKAH, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian haj pilgrims here have been asked not to participate in 'bidaah' or superstitious thinking or behaviour during wukuf in Arafah, which is one of the essential rituals of the Haj. Malaysian Pilgrims Fund Board (Tabung Haji) Operation Director (Guidance) Tengku Abdul Aziz Raja Abdullah said pilgrims should also prevent themselves from engaging in any conducts or activities that could distort their faith when in Arafah. "Avoid doing anything which may distort your faith. In Jabal Rahmah, for example, avoid praying facing the monument built on top of the hill or taking any stones to be used as amulets or kissing and writing name on the stone believing that it has certain magic, or believing that the prayer, when recited on top of the hill, will definitely be answered. "Pray only to God," he said. Supported by the majority of scholars, Jabal Rahmah, which is located about 22km from here, was the meeting place of Adam and Eve after they were sent to earth. The eight-metre high monument on top of the hill was built as a landmark of Adam and Eve's reunion. Tengku Abdul Aziz said it was not wrong to climb the hill, because "by climbing the hill, we will be able to see the whole area of Arafat". However, he said haj pilgrims should take the opportunity to pray as much as possible during wukuf. "Wukuf Day comes only once a year, so pray to Allah, ask for His blessings for yourself, your family, friends and country. Most scholars agreed that a prayer recited during wukuf is the most 'mustajab' (answered)," he added. -- BERNAMA
