Commonwealth Countries Plan Working Group To Improve Public Service Delivery

By Mohd Faizal Hassan and Azzah Mohamad Som PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Oct 20 (Bernama) -- Commonwealth countries are considering forming a working group to improve the public service delivery system in their respective countries, Malaysian Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Joseph Entulu Belaun said Monday. "The working group can at least help or look at various problems in the Commonwealth countries and try to find solutions to them in the public administration scope," he said. Entulu spoke to Bernama after attending the closed-door 5th Public Service Ministers' Biennial Forum held on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) Biennial Conference 2014 here. He said that the working group planned to meet twice a year in different places to have discussions. The proposal to set up the working group would be forwarded to the Malaysian government for its perusal, he said. Entulu also said that the Commonwealth countries were impressed with Malaysia's public service delivery and its administrative system. "They want to learn how we could reach and achieve our targets, namely the key performance index (KPI) report," he said. He said that some of the countries might want to emulate Malaysia's efforts at initiating programmes for the benefit of its citizens. About 1,500 delegates from 53 countries are attending the three-day conference at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here from Sunday. The conference, themed 'Public Service Transformation: A New Conversation', is organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) and the Commonwealth Secretariat. --BERNAMA
