Dishes From 'The Tunku's Kitchen' Cookbook Served At Festival

SYDNEY (Australia), Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Dishes from 'The Tunku's Kitchen' cookbook were served at the opening night of the Six Flavours of Malaysia Food Festival held at the prestigious Grace Hotel here Thursday night. The favorite food of Malaysia's first prime minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman was relished by about 200 guests, mainly from the travel and tourism industry. Federal Hotel, Kuala Lumpur flew in its head chef, Tan Kok Siong, as well as Shrun Ramli, Adinin Amat Usop and Noor Lezawati Abdul to prepare food for the festival which ends on Oct 2. Also present was internationally-acclaimed Chef Wan who will host several Malaysian cuisine cooking demonstrations at Grace, which is part of the Federal Hotel International Group. In a speech delivered by Malaysian High Commission counselor Tan Kim Boog, High Commissioner Zainal Abidin Ahmad said such festivals would help promote tourism to Malaysia. "They say, food is a window to the soul. And nowhere is this truer than Malaysia. "I rank Malaysian cuisine as among the most delicious and tastiest in the world," he said. --BERNAMA
