KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX), a Malaysia-based investment holding company through subsidiary DNeX Telco Services Sdn Bhd, has been awarded a sub-contract for marine fibre optic cable installation for Telkom Infra in Indonesia worth US$6.3 million (about RM25.8 million). The contract was awarded by Pt. Bina Nusantara Perkasa, the consortium company that serves as the main contractor of the project. “Under the project, DNeX will be responsible for the design, construction and installation of about 700 kilometres of fibre optic cables for two lines namely Matanusa and SMPCS Patara as part of the Indonesia Global Gateway Cable System. “DNeX will be working with Kokusai Cable Ship Co Ltd of Japan in this project,” it said in a statement here Tuesday. The project, which will commence in September, is expected to be completed in 131 days. DNeX earlier today signed an agreement for the project with Pt. Bina Nusantara Perkasa in Jakarta, Indonesia. At the signing, DNeX was represented by its Executive Deputy Chairman Samsul Husin and Mohd Ismail Khan Wazir Khan, Chief Executive Officer of DNeX Telco Services. “We are truly excited to be given the opportunity to undertake the implementation of marine fibre optic cable installation in Indonesia. Based on our experience in implementing large-scale initiatives, we are confident of delivering the set requirements of this project,” said Samsul. He said the project is a strategic expansion of the company’s IT and e-Services offerings and achieved through sound technical know-how of DNeX that has always been driven by technology. “While this is a new line of business contribution to us, we are really leveraging on the engineering and telecommunications skills sets already embedded in the company from its past experience,” he added. -- BERNAMA
