Eight Institutions To Represent Malaysia At 18th APICTA Awards In China

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 (Bernama) – Two Internet-of-Things and robotics-enabled experimental projects which focused on boosting production in the country’s agricultural sector were among the MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) award-winning entries at the Pikom ICT Awards event Friday night. The National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Association of Malaysia (Pikom) in a statement said the winners were Air Project, developed by SJKC Yuk Chai pupils, and EdSense created by KDU University College undergraduates. Air Project is aimed at performing small-scale farming activities at home and to encourage the young generation to take an interest in farming, while EdSense is aimed at easing the monitoring work of crops and livestock for farmers while increasing production levels in a cost-effective manner. These two educational institutions are among five schools and three universities which will represent Malaysia at the 18th APICTA Awards event in Guangzhou, China to be held from Oct 9 to 13. The other six are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Damansara Jaya, Foon Yew High School (Johor Bharu), SMK Damansara Utama, Foon Yew High School (Kulai), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Universiti Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Thirteen SMEs, enterpreneurs and organisations will also join these younger recipients at the international APICTA Awards event which will also see participants from 16 other economies vying for top spots in six major categories with 28 subcategories. -- BERNAMA
