Ending of population census in Kazakhstan

Astana, 06 March 2009, Khabar – The Kyzylorda and Mangistau regions have expectedly finished the population census ahead of schedule as corresponding information was provided by the Republic’s Statistical Agency official spokesman, Dinara Zhandayeva, speaking today at a media conference in Astana. Over the 8 days that the campaign has been on in the Republic, counters have polled over 14 million people or 91% of the country’s population. The Karaganda and Atyrau region are still the most active areas participating in the campaign. According to Dinara Zhandayeva, it is now known that over 100 centenarians live in Kazakhstan. At 11pm, on the 6th of March, the population census campaign is set to be finished in all regions on the country. The Statistical Agency once again asked those who had not filed in census applications, to do it in census stations or invite counters over.

- I would like to note that the population census in the Kyzylorda and Mangistau regions was finished prior to the control inspection which is to start on Saturday, March the 7th in other regions of the Republic.
